My Takes | Pica
Monday, June 18, 2012
Recently, I had my pregnant friend over for dinner. While I was cooking, I see her putting on baby powder. Fine, I'm thinking she wants to stay fresh on a hot day. Then, she started eating the baby powder. Strange right!
Did you know some people (especially pregnant women) crave things like clay, corn starch or dirt? They could have an iron deficiency called Pica.
1. Cravings of corn starch, clay, etc., for more than a month.
2. Pica can be caused by poor diets, food deprivation or an obsessive-compulsive disorder.
