Former Running Back and Kick Returner, Mercury Morris talks with fans
|
Nothing can bring a crowd together on a Saturday afternoon like Food, Football and Wine. Last week, I had the opportunity to participate in my first Gridiron Grill-Off event. John Offerdahl "The Gridiron Griller" and former All-Pro Linebacker for the Miami Dolphins, hosted his 3rd Annual Gridiron Grill-Off. This charity event raises money for, 4KIDS of South Florida, a non-profit group that helps kids in crisis. The weather was great, the band was live and the crowd was hyped.
The Grill-Off teamed up twenty-one Miami Dolphins Legends with the Best Chefs in Broward to win the fans vote, on which recipe they liked the best. The players were great. They had no problem signing autographs and taking pictures with the fans. I thought that was pretty cool. Even I got a few pictures.

Tickets for the event were $75, that included entry into the event, food, drinks, autographs and pictures from Miami Dolphins Legends. Things kicked off with an opening ceremony, then the best part of the event the food and drinks. Fans got to sample food, drinks, and vote for their favorite recipe via text. There was also a Cornhole toss, the Pros and even the fans competed in this tournament.

In the end there were two winners, former Safety Louis Oliver and former Running Back Troy Stradford. Louis Oliver, three time winner and Chef David Hackett from Hollywood Prime won the People's Choice Award for their Surf and Turf recipe. Troy Stradford and Chef Greg McGowan of Pelican Landing won the Critic's Choice Award for their Pork Belly Lettuce Wrap.
