Florida Teacher Suspended Over Lil Wayne's Lyrics
Tuesday, February 04, 2014
No apples for this "Bad Teacher," because she assigned homework landed her in the principal office.
According to WPTV, an 8th teacher at The Charter Schools of Boynton Beach received a three day suspension, after that teacher gave the students homework that contained explicit lyrics to rapper Lil Wayne's "6 Foot 7 Foot." This song is no nursery rhyme.
As you can imagine parents were outraged."This is crazy. They shouldn't be giving this to kids in school," said Vanessa Guzman.

The English teacher felt her students were not getting the concept of puns, similes and metaphors. So, that teacher decided Lil Wayne's lyrics were more their speed. Wade Owens, Headmaster of the school released a statement:
“The lesson was for students to learn to identify literary devices. The teacher had already introduced Edgar Allen Poe and Shakespeare. Students were having difficulty grasping the concepts of literary devices such as: pun, simile, metaphor, so the teacher used colloquial material. This material did not meet the school’s standards and was not approved. The teacher recognizes that it was totally inappropriate for a school assignment.”
